  • Marketing Associate Job Description

    Nava Dance Theatre is looking for a part time marketing associate to join our small team from September 2025 onwards. The Marketing Associate will assist in expanding our reach. This is a part time position, with 5-15 hours per week (based on Nava’s programs calendar) and $25-$30 based on experience. The Marketing Associate reports to the Artistic Director. This is a 4 month contract with option to extend at the end of the year.

    About you:

    You’re someone who is passionate about social media, building audiences, and talking about dance. You are a creative person who can not only visualize ideas, but write them as well. You are all about decolonizing spaces and constantly questioning the status quo. You’re excited to contribute to the evolving mission of a growing BIPOC, female-led, performing arts organization. 

    Responsibilities could include:

    • Running the Instagram, Facebook, and Linkedin pages for Nava Dance Theatre

    • Develop strategic marketing and digital campaigns and for all programming and shows happening through the summer and fall

    • Design marketing materials for both print and digital 

    • Book and direct videographer and photographer to document rehearsals and performances

    • Create and handle monthly newsletters on Mailchimp

    • Update the Nava Dance Theatre Website periodically using Squarespace

    • Come up with creative ways to engage PR and create digital outreach initiatives

    • Be able to help identify new audiences and community engagement opportunities.

    Qualifications: 

    • Strong interpersonal skills, a positive work attitude, excellent oral & written communication, and ease in interacting with diverse groups of people including international artists 

    • Familiarity with Google Office, video editing software, music editing software, Adobe Express, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and content manager platforms such as Mailchimp, and Squarespace.

    • Proactive and can work independently as well as with a team.

    • 1-5 years of experience in managing social media, running marketing campaigns, or working for small arts organizations

    • General understanding of South Asian performing arts field

    Programs Manager:

    This is a part time position, with 10 hours per week at $25-$30/hour based on experience. The Programs Manager reports to the Artistic Director and works directly with the other Programs Manager. This is a 6 month contract starting August 2025 and ending December 2025 with the potential to renew and increase hours. The position can be completely remote, with options to work in person if based in the Bay Area

You are all about decolonizing spaces and constantly questioning the status quo. You’re excited to contribute to the evolving mission of a growing BIPOC, female-led, performing arts organization.

    Responsibilities could include:

    Operations

    • Support the team in booking studios for rehearsal, classes, workshops, and showcases. 

    • Support the Artistic Director during the rehearsal process, including: managing schedules, documenting rehearsals, tracking contractor hours, managing payments/reimbursements.

    • Manage the day to day operation of the Unrehearsed Residency Program, including creating documents for residents, taking notes during residency meetings, managing informational communications with the residents, sending out zoom links, and keeping track of the residency schedule

    • Create processes and procedures for day-to-day tasks

    • Assist Artistic Director and Grant Consultant with grant task management and deadlines 

    Marketing

    • Along with the Artistic Director, create short and long term social media plans based on the program calendar. Social media platforms include instagram & facebook. This role will also work on starting a linkedin page

    • Design social media posts and marketing materials for all Nava programs, including static and video posts

    • Write and design monthly mailers on Mailchimp

    • Update the website based on Nava programs

    • Identify new ways to engage the community online

    • Identify new audiences and community engagement opportunities, especially opportunities in the Bay Area.

    • Manage press relations, and outreach

    Organizational Development

    • Participate in strategic and long range planning for the organization

    • Actively participate in helping to develop and maintain a healthy work culture at Nava

    • Provide thought partnership and support for indigenizing/decolonizing work

    Office/Administration:

    • Attend pre-determined weekly staff meeting (virtual)

    Qualifications: 

    • Strong interpersonal skills, a positive work attitude, excellent oral & written communication, and ease in interacting with diverse groups of people including international artists 

    • Familiarity with Mac, Google Suite, Adobe Suite, Canva, Facebook, Instagram, Asana, Squarespace, and Mailchimp

    • An eye for detail, along with design, video, music editing skills and softwares. 

    • Available for in-person events based on location (state safety guidelines would be adhered to)

    • Some experience with South Asian art/dance forms but not required!
